Cristina Bicchieri - "Norm Nudging and Social Interferences" - SIDE 2020

On 17th December 2020, Professor Cristina Bicchieri (University of Pennsylvania) delivered a keynote speech during the Annual Conference of the Italian Society of Law and Economics.

In her presentation entitled “Norm Nudging and Social Interference”, the philosopher analyses how this tool works relying on eliciting social expectations with the intent of inducing desirable behaviours.

Such a mechanism of broad and current interest, however, requires awareness of what sort of messages the regulators would address in order to achieve the desired results. Indeed, she conducted an experiment that shows people’s inferences on behaviour are determined by how this is presented to them.
