The Future of Confidence - LUMSA

The LUMSA University has developed a project for the creation of a multidisciplinary Observatory on the theme of Trust. FIDES, a word-acronym that encompasses the topics of interest of the Observatory to be set up, was born from the word used by the Latins to refer to trust: Trust, Institutions, Law, Economics and Society.

The FIDES Observatory is intended to be an interdisciplinary think tank, promoted by the University for the three-year period 2022-2025, as part of a doctoral school to be set up. The scientific group of area experts is made up of economists, philosophers, pedagogists, political scientists, psychologists, sociologists and historians.

The FIDES Observatory - which was set up with the ambition of being a national reference centre - will analyse the forms and levels of trust in Italian society, measuring in particular the post-material dimensions and, consequently, proposing solutions to strengthen or rebuild trust while offering perspectives in the educational field and solutions to policy makers.

On an annual basis, the FIDES Observatory will update the so-called "trust barometer", an indicator that over time will quantify the value of trust present in public opinion and in Italian society.

As part of the public launch of the University Observatory on trust, the conference Il Futuro della fiducia (The future of trust), to be held in Rome on 6 April 2022, 2.30 p.m. - Aula Giubileo, via di Porta Castello - will be an important academic opportunity to reflect on what "trust" is today and what its prospects are for the time to come. The conference can also be followed by live streaming on YouTube, the LUMSA University channel.

Access to the lecture hall will be allowed with a Green Pass and a mask on.

Speakers, presenting the University Observatory "FIDES", will be Professors Stefano Biancu, Luigino Bruni, Letizia Caso, Folco Cimagalli, Consuelo Corradi, Claudio Giannotti, Gennaro Iasevoli, Fabio Macioce, Nicoletta Rangone, Matteo Rizzolli, Giuseppe Tognon and Pietro Virgadamo. The subsequent discussion, moderated by the Rector Prof. Francesco Bonini, will be attended by doctoral students from the LUMSA University.

The event will conclude with the presentation of the new FIDES University Observatory.
