LUMSA University, University of Trento, University of Tuscia, Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa – Institute of Law, Politics and Development, organize the second event of the seminar cycle dedicated to an empirical investigation on the use of artificial intelligence in public decision-making processes of rule-making, adjudication and enforcement.
The first event, entitled “The use of artificial intelligence in the activities of the Bank of Italy”, was held on Wednesday, 28 April 2021.
Continuing the study on the use of such tools by the Independent Authorities, the second seminar will focus on the experience of AGCOM, ARERA and CONSOB and will take place on 25 May 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7. 30 p.m.
The discussion will address the following issues:
a) what type of AI systems are being tested by the Authorities and for what tasks;
b) who governs the process, both in the genetic phase and in the operational phase of the algorithms (is there a validation system? Who builds the system? Who monitors the results?);
c) what data are used to build the algorithms and who provides them.

L’Università LUMSA, l’Università di Trento, l’Università della Tuscia, la Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa – Istituto di Diritto, Politica e Sviluppo, proseguono il ciclo di seminari dedicato ad un’indagine empirica sull’uso dell’intelligenza artificiale nei processi decisionali pubblici di rule-making, adjudication ed enforcement.
Il 28 aprile 2021 ha avuto luogo il primo evento, dal titolo “L’impiego dell’intelligenza artificiale nelle attività della Banca d’Italia”.
Il secondo seminario contribuirà allo studio con una discussione sull’esperienza di AGCOM, ARERA e CONSOB e avrà luogo il 25 maggio 2021 dalle ore 17.00 alle ore 19:30.
La riflessione verterà sui seguenti interrogativi:
a) che tipo di sistemi di IA stanno sperimentando le Autorità e per svolgere quali compiti;
b) chi governa il processo, sia nella fase genetica sia nella fase di funzionamento degli algoritmi (esiste un sistema di validazione? Chi realizza il sistema? Chi monitora i risultati?);
c) quali dati vengono utilizzati per costruire gli algoritmi e chi li fornisce.
