EMLE students currently spending their third term in LUMSA (Rome) had the chance to visit the Italian impact assessment scrutiny board (called Nuvir) at Wedekind Palace in the heart of the Eternal City.
Nuvir is a technical unit supporting the Italian Department for Legislative Affairs (DAGL) in evaluating the quality of ex-ante and ex-post impact assessments.
The visit was part of the Better Regulation course and students attended a lecture given by three members of the board (prof. Nicoletta Rangone; Dr Francesco Sarpi; Dr Mario Martelli) on the institutional framework and on how to develop an economic assessment of a new proposal.
The lecture also included an exercise focused on performing an impact assessment on a specific case study and a Q&A about the board’s activities.
